Over a four-year period (2012-16), Robert Burley explored the complex relationship between Toronto’s wilderness and urban life at a pivotal time in city’s history. The outcome is a visual book that explores one of the most extensive urban park systems in the world. Burley’s photographs are augmented with selections of poetry and prose by some of Toronto s best-known writers and this publication also includes a history and appendix which provides an important reference for those wanting to better understand one of Toronto’s most defining features. Commissioned by the City of Toronto, published by ECW Press presented as a feature exhibition in the Scotiabank CONTACT Photography Festival 2017.
